- I picked this picture because I have seen it a lot and I think it's interesting to see each stride in detail.

- The series of pictures were taken to see if a horse is airborne when galloping, which it is. These pictures marked the start to the motion-picture industry.

- The photographer has many other pictures like this one, but with different animals.

- I like the the color and background in this picture

- The photographer didn't take the original picture, but captured it when he saw the photo in an ad. He was sued for copyright, but claimed that it was photography of photography that foreshadowed the time of digital sharing.

- The video was arguing over whether Richard Prince's work was acceptable or not. The people in favor of his work said that his photography zoomed into the photo and really showed the real picture. The video interviewed many people, along with Richard Prince and in it, Prince admitted that he didn't know anything about photography when he started.

- I was surprised to see that this image was the original picture that Nike has on many of their products.

- Co Rentmeester took this photo of Micheal Jordan who sold it to Nike for $150  for temporary use for design inspiration. Soon many products had this image on them and the photographer sued Nike for copyright.

- I chose this image because its funny how the image was so famous, and it ended up being fake.

- Marmaduke Wetherell took a fake picture of the Loch Ness monster but was covered by Robert Willson. Wetherell created a fake monster and was claimed as a hoax. This became the start to conspiracy theorists but the pictures became less believable as photoshop days taught people to trust nothing.

- There were pictures of the news papers that were published with the photo on it. 

- This was the only picture captured by Marmaduke Wetherell

- I chose this photo because it's amazing and sad at the same time. I love wildlife and to see this picture makes you appreciate the wilderness just that much more.

- The photographer went on a trop from Congo to Gabon to take pictures of African wildlife. The most amazing picture was took of a rare siting of a hippo in the Atlantic Ocean.

- There are many different picture of the wildlife that was captured during their trek. There is also a map of their journey in Africa.

My group's theme for the mural project is the Texas flag. I took white pictures for the white portion of the flag and other people in my group took blue and red. When all the pictures are gathered, we will organize each picture into the pattern of the Texas flag.

Amy Dang:

I chose Amy Dang because I like how each of her photos capture the light just right. Her pictures are fun to look at and they have a happiness to them. She loves taking candid pictures that capture everything. She is mainly a wedding photographer because she likes the feel of taking pictures in a chaotic, but happy place. By looking at her pictures, you can tell that she likes laughter to show in them.

Amy Dang's style of photography is portrait photography, more specifically, wedding photography. Almost all of her pictures are taken outside in the nature with perfect light exposure. A lot of her pictures are candid and natural giving the picture an almost busy feel, but in a beautiful place.  She does a great job at capturing detail in a chaotic setting while people are laughing or just carrying on their tasks.

Her style of photography is very unique and something I don't usually see in most wedding photographers. The attention to detail is very important especially when taking pictures of people at a wedding when there is a lot of distraction and the setting is super busy. A lot of her shots are very creative whether they're organized or unexpected. She uses a lot of the composition rules, but also breaks them, resulting in photos that are well thought out, but also great to look at.



Lines- The pathway leads to the kids running.

I like the setting and light exposer in this picture.

Lines- The lines that the wooden planks and the wall behind the baby all lead to her.

I like how the colors correlate in this picture. The wood is dark and the baby is dressed in white making her pop from the background.

Balance- The people behind the bride and groom are equal on both sides and the subjects in the middle create symmetry.

I like how creative this picture is and, again, the setting it's taken in.

 
Avoiding Mergers- The subject's aren't awkwardly cut off of the picture.

I like the candidness of this picture and how happy the subjects look.

Rule of Thirds- The subjects are located to the side of the shot, instead of the middle.

I like the light exposer.

"For this cover story on the U.S. women’s ski-jumping team, we featured the Olympic hopeful Sarah Hendrickson as photographed by Martin Schoeller. Schoeller captures the competitive spirit of Hendrickson, who wears her competition gear, in her body posture and intense gaze."

The person photographed was completely who she was (being a skier) which gave a reality to the photo. The background is grey which really brings the subject into focus. The boldness of the photo compliments the competitive nature of the skier. The colors chosen are especially vivid in the photo which is appealing to readers. The contrast from the bright red and the grey background brighten up the picture. The goggles frame the subject's eyes which naturally leads a viewer's attention to the eyes which shows the intense mood of the photo. The text used doesn't give away what the magazine covers, therefore leading people to buy it to find out.

Blog #1: Magazine Tips

1. Make sure the cover is interesting to look at

American Soldier

A. I think the most powerful image is "A Welcome Break" because Ian is happy when he is finally with his family after being over seas. His mom and dad look happy as they have their arms around each other and his friend has a huge smile on his face.

B. The images show how Ian grew over the years and how he changed from a skinny and scared kid   into older  boy who was less afraid of the his new way of life. 

C. The captions help make sense of what the pictures captured in that time. They gave an insight of the situations in the photo instead of leaving the viewers guessing what the picture was really about.

D. Ian Fisher was a high school boy who left home to train for the army. He had many friends and a family who he loved. His first times in training were rough and exhausted him to the point where he just wanted to give up. He had difficulties such as a breakup with his girlfriend and injuries. He was excited when he saw his family and friends after going to Iraq and in the end, he married a girl that made him happy.

H. The captions are very basic and the photos can only show a moment in the scene that is happening in, so if you want detail and a whole scene, then you would have to write a detailed version of what those images and captions highlight in that moment.
