Website Review

DIY Photography Review: 5-5 (http://www.diyphotography.net)

The website's intention was to inform any photographer, with helpful tips about photography and how to improve it. There are helpful links on the website that lead to topics that can help any photographer with simple fixtures or tips. I saw really cool 'how to's' and tricks that can enhance different aspects within photography. Many tips were how to get specific pictures to look certain ways and also how to get the highest quality out of the photos. I even saw a tip on how to improve phone photography, which is really great for someone who can't afford a camera and that alone could appeal to an average person. The shear amount of links, photos, and over-all layout of the website make it easy to access any information a photographer could possibly need. It was easy to navigate the website for over 600 pages provided and what makes it even more useful is that you could use this website when ever and by yourself, instead of going to a class to learn form someone else. This website can be used by green photographers or more experienced photographers simply looking for easy and, in some cases cheaper, alternatives when it comes to photography. The information makes it fun to learn about photography in ways that reading in a book would be boring. I would add this website to my bookmarks because it has so many different stories and tips for any kind of photographer, which can be very helpful when looking to improve my photography. I would recommend this website to photographers who are looking to improve their skills or to anyone wanting looking to improve their photography in different ways.

Watch: Siberian tigers take down a drone like it was a bird

I chose this picture because it was makes me want to watch the video. I like how the website shared links from other websites, because it helps people find other photography-based websites from one main source. I also shared this picture because it supports that the website’s wide variety of topics to choose from. This photography singularly stood out because the headline was ‘WATCH: SIBERIAN TIGERS TAKE DOWN A DRONE LIKE IT WAS A BIRD’. This headline shows that it can advertise and be entertaining to browse while also trying to learn from it too. Even though the headline didn’t look educational, the article proved otherwise because it talks about running simple technology. Not just the headline stood out, but of course the picture stood out because it seems like surreal thing to happen in nature, which adds to the curiosity of clicking the video. The picture shows many photographic elements like a simple background and symmetry, which made me think about photography.

Photography:

A1
The cheerleaders are against a black sky, making them pop from the photo. The lighting would be perfect, except for the large light in the background interferes with the lighting slightly. The image shows what the story is about and someone could get a main idea about the article.

- Simple background and depth of field
- The cheerleaders are the main subjects.
- yes, the photo's exposure is balanced.
- The picture has a deeper depth of field because multiple layers are present.

B1
The horse and rider jumping has good lighting. The image really incorporates the bond between horse and rider mentioned in the article. The photo really supports a heartfelt story along with the determination and passion that goes with riding.

leading lines, simple background, balance.
- Frazier and Celeste are the main subjects.
- Yes, the exposure is balanced.
- Shallow, even though shadows are evident, the background is not obviously separated from the background.

B7
The lighting is well exposed, but it would have been better if the photo was in color. The photo plays well with the theme of the story, but again, would be better if it was in color to portray the fun story.

- simple background and leading lines.
- Matthew Lane is the main subject.
- Yes, exposure is good in the photo.
- The depth of field is shallow, because the subject is the main focus with minimal layers.

A8
The lighting is mostly balanced, but I would expose the photo a little more because of the dark background. The photo ties in well with the gymnastics theme and it shows the wide range of movement when it comes to gymnastics. The photo impacts the story itself by showing the hard work gymnasts put in every day.

-rule of thirds and leading lines leading lines.
- Kate Stubbs is the main subject.
- The photo could have been more exposed to bring out the main subject.
-The picture has shallow depth of field because the background is closer to the subject.

5.
The photo is well lit, being outdoors give it great natural lighting. The sign helps show women empowerment which the story highlights.

- Balance and depth of field
- The main subject is the lady holding the sign.
- The natural light really exposes the image perfectly.
- The picture has a deeper depth of field and the fuzzy background helps bing the attention to the subject.

My favorite image is on the front cover of section B and it's the smallest picture shown.

The picture shows the connection between horse and, rider and I love this story/pictures in general because they're different.

It's my favorite because the shadows and lighting are very well balanced, and it's also well balanced and symmetrical.

My least favorite picture is on page A3 to the left.

It's my least favorite because the picture is boring to look at and it also isn't taken at the best angle.

I would like to shoot athletics photos.

Overall, the photography was good because most of them were taken at good angles and the lighting was well exposed. The low points in the photography were that some were not interesting to look at and some were not taken at a good quality.

Front Pages of the World

Newseum

1.
Standard Times in San Angelo, Texas. I liked this newspaper front page because it isn't too wordy and the large picture is interesting to look at. Any front cover, in my opinion, shouldn't be too word-based because words don't catch someone's eye as well as pictures do.

2.
My favorite headline is "Students learn to see girl's obstacles" published in Columbus, Nebraska because it doesn't take too much away from the story, but it makes me want to read the story to find out what the students are doing.

3.
4

4.
all of the stories have large, bold headlines
usually 1 or 2 large pictures
advertisements
the name of the publishing company
dates
the city name
shorter stories
bright colors and colored pictures

5.
some headlines are just bold and not big, while others are
some papers have more photos than just 1-2
one only has 1 large story and picture
a few papers have the weather on the side
the foreign papers obviously have a different language other than english

The Lone Star Dispatch

notes:
the stories are based on students and teachers in the school rather than the whole city
not all the pictures are in color in the school paper

1.
I like the stories better, because the other paper stories are all kind of the same
I like how informative some of the stories are

2.
The pictures are the highlight to the school paper because they are large and interesting

3.

4.
I would recommend printing all of the pictures in color, otherwise, they blend in with the text and the story isn't eye-catching. Also, the front page isn't very eye-catching, I would use more pictures and colors and less words.

5.
Yes, for the most part the school paper does. But because it's a school paper, there aren't ads or main topics concerning the city and the people living in it (other than the students of course).

6.
I like the amazing stories that show the students' achievements and also how Bowie is adding the women's rights march and the immigration issue.

Phobia Project

1. Achluophobia: fear of the dark

2. Equinophobia: fear of horses

3. Acrophobia: fear of heights
